Emily Laidlaw is an Australian writer and editor currently based in London.

Her arts criticism has appeared in The Weekend Australian, The Big Issue, MetroAustralian Book ReviewBooks+Publishing, SeizureThe Lifted Brow, Kill Your Darlings and the Wheeler Centre online.

She is a former online editor at Kill Your Darlings and nonfiction editor at Voiceworks magazine. She once guest edited Overland journal’s online Winter Fiction issue.

Emily has spoken on panels at the Emerging Writers’ Festival, Digital Writers’ Festival and National Young Writers’ Festival. She has also judged literary prizes and run writing and editing workshops for Express Media.

She holds an honours degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne, for which she received a First. Following her studies she received an Australia Council for the Arts’ ArtStart grant, which allowed her to research, and travel to, writers’ festivals in Ubud, Jaipur and Beijing.
